If you have missed a cycle and are concerned you may be pregnant, the staff at the Women’s Center – Dayton can provide you with a medical quality, urine pregnancy test with 97-99% accuracy, free of charge. If you have positive pregnancy test, you would then be eligible for an ultrasound scan. Our RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) and Nurses are here to provide every woman who has a positive pregnancy test with a free non-diagnostic ultrasound scan. The limited ultrasound scan will help to determine gestational age and viability. Viability refers to whether or not the embryo or fetus has a detectable heartbeat. Being pregnant doesn’t mean that you have to stop breastfeeding your child. Many years ago, doctors believed that breastfeeding while you were pregnant actually took away nutrients from the baby inside you; however, research today has shown that that is not the case. Even today, though, we have people that still believe this, and they will argue with you whenever you even dare mention the fact that you are or plan to breastfeed while pregnant. Only you can decide if you should stop breastfeeding your toddler or not. Don’t let someone else make that decision for you.

Reasons to Stop Breastfeeding
A few reasons you might want to stop breastfeeding may be if you are feeling constantly drained of energy. Or perhaps your child has started to bite (ouch!). Sometimes, your milk will just dry up; this is a way that your body can tell you that it has had enough and that it’s time for you to take a break from breastfeeding.
